Strategic Hiring Guide
Finding the ideal candidate can be a challenging task. There are many factors to consider, including competency and skill set for the job, as well as chemistry and alignment with your team and mission.
You spend hours reviewing and analyzing resumes and interviewing candidates, knowing that with the advancement of AI, it can be increasingly challenging to discern the best candidate(s) and then get your team to agree on the decision.
Cue the 5C’s Strategic Hiring tool. This interviewing tool is designed to help you consistently evaluate candidates across multiple conversations and touchpoints within the organization.
Share this tool with your team and then discuss where your ratings vary.
This resource is an editable PDF and includes a best practice guide on page two, which you can use to implement it seamlessly across your organization.
Why do you need a hiring guide?
I remember sitting around the table during a team interview and knowing deep in my gut that something was off with a candidate. I was early in my career and couldn’t voice what I was picking up on yet.
Others later voiced after the interview that they, too, had concerns. Our boss hired the employee. And within a few months, we all knew it was a mistake.
There are times when we can’t place our resistance, but with a ranking system, it can help illuminate a top area of concern (one of the C’s).
There are also times when you have multiple separate interviews. Such as an initial interview with HR, then a supervisor interview, followed by a couple of team members, and finally the CEO. You all get different points of conversation and answers. When you sync up, the answer is usually, “yeah, it was good.”
Having a ranking system like this guide can align conversations and make trends stand out more distinctly to the final decision maker. It also allows for deeper conversation if someone writes a note with a prompt, versus trying to voice what feels over the top or somehow intuitive.
With this guide, you also get prompts and instructions to align your team around the end result to hire the best fit for your team.
Hiring practices can make or break a company — especially in preparing for valuation.
This guide is designed to help you align your strategies and create more efficient procedures to align your team.
We’d love to help you integrate other strategic resources into your team, especially if you’re in or preparing for transition.
